Our Process

Review

In the early stages of design, reviewing a project for prefabricated wall panel opportunities involves evaluating the building’s layout, structural system, and façade design to identify where panelization adds the most value. The team assesses factors such as wall repetition, panel sizes, access for installation, and schedule constraints to determine feasibility. Collaboration with the design team allows adjustments to framing layouts, joint locations, and material selections that optimize panel design, improve constructability, and reduce onsite labor. This early coordination ensures the project benefits from the efficiency, quality, and speed that prefabrication provides.

1

Recommendation

After a thorough project review, prefabricated wall panels may be recommended as the most efficient and effective solution for the building façade. This evaluation considers architectural design intent, structural requirements, material compatibility, and installation logistics. Based on these factors, the team identifies the panel type, such as steel stud framing with sheathing, StoPanel® systems, or other composite assemblies.  We will recommend the system that best suits the façade’s performance, aesthetic, and durability goals. This recommendation ensures the selected prefabricated wall system aligns with the project’s design vision while maximizing constructability and overall project value.

Estimating

The estimating process for prefabricated wall panels begins with a detailed review of drawings, specifications, and project scope to determine the most effective panel types and materials. Using advanced BIM models and 2D plans, our team accurately measures quantities for framing, sheathing, insulation, and finishes. Labor needs are carefully evaluated for both shop fabrication and field installation, including crane and handling requirements. Material pricing is confirmed through trusted supplier partnerships, while logistics such as transportation, sequencing, and storage are strategically planned in coordination with our operations team. Each estimate undergoes a thorough internal review to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and value—delivering the most cost-effective and constructable solution for every project.

Engineering

The engineering process for prefabricated wall panels is a collaborative effort between the architect, structural engineer, and installation team to ensure the design is both structurally sound and constructable. Whether it be with our in-house designer or third party engineer, this process involves coordinating connection details, load paths, and material specifications while maintaining the architectural intent. Early collaboration allows for refinement of panel layouts, embeds, and attachment methods to simplify fabrication and installation. The result is a fully engineered wall system that meets performance requirements, aligns with design goals, and supports efficient production and installation in the field.

Prefabrication

The fabrication process for prefabricated wall panels takes place in our St. Peters, Missouri facility under a rigorous ICC-certified QA/QC program. Each panel is built in a controlled environment using precise measurements and standardized assembly methods to ensure consistency and quality. Throughout fabrication, components are inspected at key stages for structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and finish quality in accordance with ICC requirements. This controlled process ensures that every panel leaving the shop meets design specifications and is ready for efficient installation in the field.

Delivery & Installation

Loading and delivering prefabricated wall panels requires careful coordination and planning to ensure safe handling and on-time delivery. At TJ Wies Prefab, panels are staged and loaded in sequence to match the installation plan, minimizing onsite handling. We partner with trusted third-party logistics providers but manage the entire process. TJ Wies Prefab handles the scheduling all the way to delivery, to ensure each shipment arrives safely, undamaged, and when needed. This coordinated approach supports efficient installation and helps maintain project schedules.
